Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Cable Harness Technician with proven, hands on cable harness assembly experience. This is a key requirement for the role.

The successful candidate will work within a reputable engineering environment, assembling, testing, and maintaining cable harnesses used across a range of electronic systems. Precision, technical expertise, and strict adherence to quality standards are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately interpret and follow wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Cut, strip, crimp, and solder wires to assemble cable harnesses to specification and industry standards
  • Install connectors, lugs, backshells, protective coverings, and other harness components
  • Perform continuity, insulation, and functional electrical tests using approved test equipment
  • Inspect completed harnesses for compliance and carry out corrective actions where required
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of assembly steps, materials used, and test outcomes
  • Communicate suggestions for design or process improvements
  • Perform routine care and maintenance of tools and equipment used in harness assembly
  • Follow company safety procedures and industry regulations, ensuring a clean, safe working environment

Required Skills and Experience (Essential)

  • Candidates must have direct, hands on cable harnessing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ practical experience in cable harness assembly or an equivalent specialist role
  • Strong ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and build documentation
  • High-level competence in soldering, crimping, wire preparation, and use of specialist assembly tools
  • Experience working with a wide range of connectors, terminals, and protective coverings
  • Confident using multimeters, continuity testers, and other electrical test equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in harness quality inspection and electrical testing
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD, or equivalent standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Strong organisational skills and accurate record-keeping
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Previous experience in automotive, aerospace, defence, rail, or telecommunications environments

Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30 (30-minute lunch)
  • Friday: 08:00 – 13:00
