Website New Recruits

We’re currently looking to recruit a skilled Powder Coater / Sprayer to join our clients coating Department in Bicester, reporting into the Shift Leader.

This is a hands-on, active role where you’ll be on your feet throughout the shift, working as part of a small team to deliver high-quality coated finishes in line with production targets and customer specifications.

What the role involves:

Surface Preparation & Pre-Treatment
You’ll ensure components are correctly pre-treated before coating (wash, phosphate, chromate-free etc.), checking for contamination, oil, damage or residue. Any pre-treatment defects such as smutting or adhesion risks must be identified and escalated. Parts must be masked and hung correctly to spec.

Powder Application
You’ll apply powder coatings using manual or automatic spray equipment, maintaining correct gun settings (kV, µA, air pressure, flow rates) and achieving specified film thickness in microns. You’ll be expected to minimise common defects such as Faraday cage issues, orange peel and back ionisation, while also monitoring powder usage to reduce waste and maximise transfer efficiency.

Curing & Process Control
You’ll ensure oven temperatures and cure times align with the technical data sheet (TDS) requirements, support cure profiling where required, and check parts post-cure for adhesion, gloss level, coverage and finish consistency.

Quality Assurance
You’ll carry out visual inspections and basic quality checks (film thickness, adhesion where required), segregate non-conforming product, and maintain finish standards in line with internal and customer expectations.

Equipment & Housekeeping
You’ll be responsible for cleaning and maintaining spray guns, hoppers, booths and recovery systems, carrying out efficient colour changes, storing powders correctly, and maintaining strong 5S standards at all times.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
You must operate in line with COSHH, PPE requirements and safe systems of work, handling powders and chemicals safely and reporting any hazards, incidents or equipment faults immediately.

Production & Team Contribution
You’ll work to daily production targets, communicate effectively with pre-treatment, loading and packing teams, support continuous improvement, and assist with mentoring where required.

What we’re looking for:

Time served spraying or powder coating experience (essential)
Strong understanding of powder coating technical specifications
Knowledge of common coating defects and root causes
Understanding of powder types (epoxy, polyester, hybrid) and correct applications
Strong attention to detail and personal accountability
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Good communication skills in English
We’re looking for someone who proactively identifies issues before parts move to the next stage, works efficiently without compromising quality or safety, and represents the business positively through their behaviour and standards.

If you’re experienced in powder coating and take pride in producing consistent, high-quality finishes, I’d be keen to speak with you.
